Class Update

Tomorrow Night: we will continue our study in 2 Peter, chapters 2 & 3. I believe you will find this study extremely insightful when you consider what is taking place today. Recently, we have seen that the last days will be those of deceit and confusion.

It seems in many ways we have lost out way. Here are a few things that need to be considered:
Today's morality compared to the 50's school offenses!
  1. Chewing gum compared to drugs!
  2. Talking in class compared to assault!
  3. Running the the halls compared to rape!
  4. Shooting spit balls compared to school shootings!
  5. Breaking in lunch line compared to gang violence!

Many educators believe that we need to be progressive not old fashioned or old schooled, but if a person has any common sense they should realize that back in the day we were bless to live in communities with unlocked doors and when a gentleman's agreement, a man's word was his bond.

Our society no longer believes in setting boundaries, as we had. As a counselor in a large city church, the young people would tell me that they did not know any limits. They were told to think for themselves. These kids still had the intellect of children without guidance.

This particular post hit home with me, since I was a child of the 50's. I participate in a neighborhood bible study that meets weekly, and this subject has been a frequent topic of discussion. The moral decay of our society stems from a lack of spirituality and lack of the acceptance of Jesus as personal savior. It is also the result of lack of boundaries, lack of self-respect, lack of respect for others and an attitude of selfishness, as opposed to selflessness. As we have witnessed with the downturn of the economy, it appears that our society worships money. The bible states that one cannot worship both God and money, for one will despise one and love the other. It is obvious to me that the major problem is the idolotry of materialism simultaneously easing God out.

Old school or old fashioned is exactly what we need. Discipline and the bible back in our schools whould teach kids things that most are not getting at home...
